FOQUS Fondazione Quartieri Spagnoli onlus has regenerated a place – collected empty, devoid of functions and future – transforming it into a productive, creative community of care and training of the person, which participates in the change of the Spanish Quarters (Napoli).
FOQUS can be partially compared to the regeneration experiences of the Bijlmermeer district in Amsterdam, Quartier21 in Vienna, Centquatre in Paris, all promoted by local or governmental public initiative, albeit each different in terms of objectives, scale dimensions or preponderance of productive sectors .
FOQUS, like these European projects, takes place in one of the most emblematic and fragile areas of a metropolitan city; experiments with new community welfare models promotes processes of social mobility, development, transformation.
Unlike its European counterparts, it is promoted and implemented entirely on private initiative and with private resources; builds a diversified and non-monothematic cluster; it addresses the care of the person from the very first years of life to adulthood, in the training path as in that of services.
